ORGANIC – ORGANOMINERAL FERTILIZER
Soil is one of the most important resources, which is entrusted by the nature to us, that all living things use collectively and that ensures continuity of life.
While it is expected that world’s population will be 9,7 billion in the year 2050, it is necessary that agricultural production is increased by 70% compared to that of today to meet food need.
However, fields which can be used for agricultural production are reduced day by day due to ecological problems and the quality of existing soils is deteriorating and one of the primary indicators of this deterioration is the decrease of organic material content which is the most important element of the soil.
Although it constitutes the smallest part of the soil structure, soil organic material is the most important indicator of soil health and productivity.
In order that physical, chemical and biological features and productivity potentials of agricultural soils are on desired levels, organic material content should be at least 3% of the weight of the soil.
Only 1% of the agricultural soils in Turkey is above this rate in terms of organic material content. It is known that wrong agricultural practices are causing loss of organic material.
Agriculture, which is a soil management, has changed significantly in the last 70-80 years and heavy cultivation, erosion, monoculture agriculture, heavy chemical fertilizer and pesticide use have reduced soil organic material.
The rate of soils containing inadequate soil organic material in Turkey was 92% in 1990, this rate has increased to 99% in the analyses done in 2011-2014.
The soils that have good and high soil organic material have reduced from 7.2% to 1%.
Reduction of soil organic material is one of the leading causes of soil degradation and as the soil organic material amount decreases, the amount of fertilizer to be used increases.
Against the use of increasing amounts of fertilizers, plant production per unit fertilizer decreases.
Using only chemical fertilizer without adding organic substance causes faster mineralization of the valuable organic material in the soil.
Therefore, the soil turns into an emission source rather than being a carbon well and that causes a negative carbon balance of atmosphere/earth.
Chemical fertilizers cause that the physical and chemical features of the soil changes, soil pH goes beyond the plant’s wish, ionic toxicity occurs in plants by creating a saline impact, biological diversity of the soil decreases, plants’ resistance to diseases and pests reduces, nutritional balance of the products is spoiled, water resources such as rivers and lakes are polluted, heavy metals are accumulated in the soil when the heavy metals in their compound are mixed with the soil.
When we evaluate our organic material sources effectively, we have a capacity to obtain approximately 112 million tonnes organic fertilizers per year in our country.
Productivity potential of the soil and productivity and quality of the plants grown would be increased by adding organic materials 5 million hectares land which constitutes approximately 25% of the cultivated lands each year with these organic fertilizers and green fertilization
One of the most important factors behind the fact that the subject of this investment «integrated stockbreeding, biogas power generation, organomineral fertilizer factory and technologic greenhouse plant» is a project that both raises environmental awareness and provides a significant added value to the economy is the organic fertilizer factory that processes organic waste other than biogas after the production of biogas.
Organic material content is not adequate in almost all of the agricultural fields in Turkey and:
- Organic material and nitrogen amount is very low in over 75% of our agricultural fields and only around 6% of our agricultural fields contain adequate amount of organic material.
- Phosphor suitable for plants is very low in 75% of our agricultural fields and there is phosphor suitable for plants in only 14% of our agricultural fields.
- Potassium that can be used by plants is high in 80% of our agricultural fields, and it is inadequate in 1,3% of our agricultural fields.
The areas that we have necessary amount of nitrogen, phosphor and potassium which are suitable for agriculture are decreasing continuously.
The low amount of organic material in our soil and the lack of nutrient elements proves the importance of giving both manure and other organic fertilizers to the soil.
In cases where we cannot replace and reinforce the reducing plant nutrients with mineral and organic fertilizers, significant losses occur in our agricultural yield depending on soil productivity.
6 million tonnes of chemical fertilizer and 39 thousand tonnes of synthetic pesticides and hormones are used yearly in conventional agriculture in Turkey.
Disturbing the balance in nature with unconscious and uncontrolled use of synthetic chemicals in conventional agriculture causes a life-threatening situation for all the living things through food chain.
Organic fertilizers should be used to prevent those losses and to obtain healthy food without polluting natural resources without disturbing the natural balance.
Organic fertilizers are essential to produce organic agriculture which gains importance in the world and our country.
Fermented in anaerobic environment during biogas production do not contain foreign seeds or microorganisms.
Nitrate or ammonia levels reach the most suitable values in agricultural use.
When they are used as liquid fertilizer, absorption by plants reach maximum levels.
Plant productivity increases by 20% - 25%.
Odour and fly population is reduced in farms, groundwater is less polluted with nitrate and the amount of organic materials in the soil increases.
After Nitrogen, Phosphate and Potassium contents of the organic fertilizers are regulated in the mineralization unit to be integrated into the biogas production plant, organic fertilizers are improved and «Organomineral Fertilizer» is produced.
